概要: We introduced a liquid helium-free cryostat for studying quantum mechanical electron transports in semiconductors or topological insulators. This cryostat can cool the samples down to 1.5 K and is equipped with 14 T superconducting magnet. The resistance standard originating from the conductance quantization was accurately measured by the quantum Hall effect measurement in a Si-modulation-doped AlGaAs/GaAs single heterostructure, in which high-mobility two-dimensional electron channel was formed. In addition, diamagnetic levitation of bismuth was successively observed. Further enhancement of our study is expected using this cryostat system. 続きを見る

概要: In this study, supercapacitor electrodes were synthesized from crab shells, which account for about 30,000 tons of the seafood caught every year in Japan. Although many studies have reported using an electric furnace, in this research, the crab shell materials were carbonized and activated in a microwave oven. The aim of this research was to investigate the performance of a supercapacitor when the crab shell materials are carbonized and activated with microwaves. Electrodes were prepared from the obtained activated carbon, and these capacitances were measured by the cyclic voltammetry method and the internal resistances were measured by the alternating current impedance method. The results of this study indicate that capacitance increased in proportion to time and wattage of microwave oven. 続きを見る

概要: We have studied the retention period of growth promotion effects of seeds of radish sprouts (Raphanus sativus L.) after low pressure oxygen plasma irradiation. The growth promotion effects using plasma irradiation changes by changing the beginning time of cultivation. The reaction time of seeds with reactive oxygen species generated by oxygen plasma is a key factor of controlling growth promotion of plants. 続きを見る

概要: The high-pressure fuel generator was developed for the generation of high-pressure fuel spray. When the target pressures of common rail at the high-pressure fuel generator were set at 60, 80, 100 and 120 MPa, and the mean pressures of actual pressure of common rail were 60.04, 80.04, 100.10 and 119.85MPa respectively. Moreover, the measurement system, that is, a laser 2-focus velocimeter (L2F) was developed for the evaluation of breakup of droplet inside the diesel fuel spray. The L2F has a micro-scale measuring volume which consisted of two foci. The focal diameter was about 3 μm, and the distance between two foci was 20 μm. The velocity and size of droplets inside the spray can be measured by using L2F. The maximum data sampling rate of the L2F system was markedly high as 15 MHz. 続きを見る

概要: In order to reduce forging load, we focused on the reduction of contact area with forging dies and proposed a new method with the flexible rocking motions created by using multiple linear actuators. A cylindrical specimens of annealed pure aluminum was compressed between flat dies up to a half of the initial height, in which a rocking motion was applied to the lower die in the latter half of the compression. The forging load was reduced by up to approximately 45% compared with the conventional upsetting. The reduction of load increased with increasing the rocking angle and its frequency. 続きを見る

概要: The present study aims at considering applicability of the constant current method as the measurement method of void fraction in a bubbly flow through a Venturi nozzle, which can be used to generate fine bubbles recently. For the accurate measurement of void fraction using this method, it is essential to identify the cause of havingthe a negative value of void fraction. The experimental result of a single bubble through the nozzle showed that the void fraction becomes negative when the bubble contacts with one electrode and do not contact with the other electrode, whilst the void fraction correctly becomes positive when it contacts with the both electrodes or do not contact with the both. 続きを見る

概要: The outer surface of mesoporous silica (MCM-41) particles was modified with ssDNA attached with FAM (fluorescent moiety) and gate control of the pores was investigated. Infrared spectra confirmed the successful modification of MCM-41 with the ssDNA via 4 synthetic steps. To close the pore gate, the surface ssDNA was hybridized with linker ssDNA having complementary base sequence on both ends. The pore gate was then opened again by hybridization with the ssDNA having complementary base sequence only on one end and BHQ-1(fluorescence quencher) on the other end. The gate opening process was confirmed by observing the fluorescence quenching of the FAM on the surface-modified ssDNA caused by the BHQ-1. 続きを見る

概要: Congenital heart disease such as Ventricular septal defect (VSD), Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) and Single Ventricle (SV) have malformations and dysfunctions in the cardiovascular system. In particular, HLHS and SV have a high risk of death due to severe symptoms such as breathing disorder, hyperhidrosis, suckling disorder and cyanosis after birth. Therefore, surgical treatment is immediately considered. To reduce pulmonary vascular resistance, BT shunt or bilateral pulmonary artery banding is performed after birth. In this procedure, a tape of a vascular graft made of ePTFE is wrapped around a blood vessel to control blood flow toward the lungs. In this study, the ultra-small crip with automatic adjustment of banding diameter by wireless communication for blood vessel banding is considered. In this paper, a numerical analysis model of blood vessel and a tape of a vascular graft for blood vessel banding using Finite Element Method is investigated. 続きを見る

概要: The polycrystalline diamond (PCD), sintered by ultrahigh pressure, possesses the best wear resistance among conventional tool materials adapted to micro grinding. In order to use the PCD as a grinding tool, you need to flatting and smoothing the tool surface. Therefore, an attempt was made to develop a laser smoothing techniques for PCD grinding tool using femtosecond pulsed laser that can high speed. It was confirmed that cobalt and diamond contained in PCD could be processed without distinction by using femtosecond pulse laser. Moreover, the possibility of improving the surface condition was found by using a femtosecond pulse laser. 続きを見る
